cdbbank's contribution beyond banking is reflected in its contribution to areas other than the economy, such as education, research and culture. Prime examples are outlined below:

Project Partner in FINA-RET

cdbbank is participating, as project partner, in the European Project FINA-RET, funded under the European Programme “Intelligent Energy-Europe” (IEE). The Project started in December 2007 and was concluded in November 2009.

FINA-RET has been carried out by a consortium of seven European partner organizations coming from different backgrounds, including banking, environmental research, business consulting as well as national agencies/associations working for energy efficiency, environment and climate protection.

FINA-RET had the following key objectives:

  • To design innovative financing products for investments in small-scale Renewable Energy Technologies (RET) and Energy Efficiency Technologies (EET).
  • To encourage SMEs and private households to invest in RET and EET and increase their energy performance, contributing in parallel to environmental protection.

The Project's 3rd & final newletter is attached here: FINA-RET NEWSLETTER 3

Partner of the Global Competitiveness Report in Cyprus

In 2003, cdbbank together with the European University Cyprus took the initiative to propose the inclusion of Cyprus in the Global Competitiveness Report which is published annually by the World Economic Forum.

Published by the World Economic Forum, the Global Competitiveness Report is the most authoritative assessment of national economies as it:

  • has been published for the last 30 years;
  • currently covers 134 countries;
  • provides a comprehensive summary of each country’s overall competitiveness position;
  • serves as a guideline for business leaders when making investment decisions;
  • contains a number of studies by leading thinkers (e.g. Columbia University's Jagdish Bhagwati and Harvard University's Michael Porter) which constitute excellent points of reference.

The World Economic Forum welcomed Cyprus for the first time in 2004 and assigned cdbbank and the European University Cyprus as its partner institutes in Cyprus. The results from the 2008 Global Competitiveness Report concerning Cyprus can be found HERE.
